Crochet Patterns

by Katrin Affolter

Many of my projects start with an idea, but without a concrete pattern or instructions. I try to write understandable patterns that hopefully not only I can follow. Unfortunately, I don't have anyone who I can give them to read through and repeat. Therefore, my patterns may not always be clearly formulated or may even contain errors. So don't be afraid to write to me if you have any questions or find errors.

Bulbasaur

Yarn
Munja, Wollspinnerei Vetsch
Hook Size
4.0mm
  Feet (4x)
R1

Crochet 5 single crochets into a magic ring (= 5 sts)

R2

Double every single crochet (= 10 sts)

R3

Crochet only into the back loop:

10 single crochets (= 10 sts)

R4

10 single crochets (= 10 sts)

Crochet four feet. Leave a longer tail on the first three feet to sew them together later.

R5
  • Mark the last stitch of R4 of the last foot - this makes the last step easier.
  • Crochet 5 single crochet stitches in the current foot (= 5 sts).
  • Now take the second foot and crochet the next 7 single crochet stitches, leaving the last 3 stitches untouched (= 12 sts).
  • Next, attach the third foot and crochet the next 7 single crochet stitches (= 19 sts).
  • Lastly, attach the fourth foot and crochet 7 single crochet stitches again (= 26 sts).
  • The last 2 missing single crochet stitches are worked into the stitch before and the stitch of the marker (see first bullet point) (= 28 sts).

R6 28 single crochets (= 28 sts)
R7 Decrease every 5th and 6th stitch together (= 20 sts)
Now is a good time to sew the feet together and close the "hole" (right picture).
R8 Decrease every 4th and 5th stitch together (= 16 sts)
R9 Decrease every 3rd and 4th stitch together (= 12 sts)
Stuff the body well. Pay a little attention to the feet so that they are not too "plump" and become round.
R10 Decrease every 1st and 2nd stitch together (= 6 sts)
Cut the thread generously and sew the hole together.

Cut the yarn for each leaf long enough to sew two leaves together, or use a separate thread for sewing.

Sew the thread along the edge of each leaf until about row 10 (but do not secure it yet!). Once all four leaves are sewn together, turn the bud inside out. This will highlight the inward-facing edges more clearly.

If there is a too large hole at the top of the bud, sew it together with a separate thread. Then stuff the bud. Next, "pull" and knot the side threads and secure them. This will further help to accentuate the edges.

Finally, sew the bud onto the body.
